Here I am back in blog land and its been quite a break, however I am back for good now and more committed than ever to spread the word. Whatever that is!! Note the flash new heading and hip background design.
Anyway, we have been out and happy eating our way around Melbourne. Here are some October highlights:
Ladro Greville
162 Greville Street Prahran 3181 Victoria
(03) 9510 2233
Ladro is a cool pizza restaurant in the heart of Greville Street Prahran. They have a sister over in Fitzroy so Melbourne is pretty well covered.
To start there was the bread. Delicious and warm it was obviously house made in their wood fired ovens. The olive oil was a disappointment, bland and flavourless with none of the light fruitiness we expected. This, however was the only downer of the night!
We decided to forego entree and head straight to mains for me Grilled spatchcock with a cyder glaze, crushed chick peas and chard. This dish was fantastic, the young chicken tender and moist and the chick pea and chard combination added a richness that made this dish memorable. The chicken was cooked in the wood fire ovens and was served piping hot - don't you just love it when hot food gets to you in the state it was meant to be!!!
P chose the Orichetti with wood fired roasted zucchini gorgonzola and sage which arrived warm and by all accounts was a lovely meal.
We shared a salad of ricotta and shaved parmisan
However, it was dessert which really won the night. Bomboloni are Italian doughnuts and these were served with vanilla bean ice cream and blood orange syrup.
These divine balls of house made perfection were the complete end of any thought of pre summer dieting, fresh, hot and doughy. It was a wonderful ending to the evening. The service was very attentive without being cloying and we would highly recommend the service, ambiance and food.

Here is the new bit, the Addicted to Sushi accessibility scale. How it works is simple. You want to go out, you want to have a good time, you want value for money, a nearly full tummy and something really great to drink but... your using a wheelchair and hey, that means no more than one step and perhaps even a toilet you might need one sometime.
So, between 1-10 how would we rate Ladro Greville? They get an 8/10.
The access is through a door at the back which leads from their car park and bin area from a street down the side. A bit grotty, a bit back door. We had to ring first for them to open the door and yes, it was raining. Parking was good though.
Another wonderful day, another wonderful weekend.
